Ocala Rated #7 Housing Market For Next Five Years

The well regarded Standard & Poor’s Case-Shiller Home Price Index has rated Ocala, Florida, (SummerGlen’s location) as the 7th best housing market in America, based on projected growth for the next five years.

The data, published online by Business Insider, projects Ocala home prices will rise by an average of 10.1% annual over the period 2011-2016. According to Business Insider, “Erasing a nearly 50% decline in home prices will take awhile, but red hot 13% growth in 2012 will help get there. The market troughed in Q1 2011.”

If this projection holds true, this means that a SummerGlen home purchased today for $175,000 may have a projected market value of more than $210,000 by the end of 2012 and well over $250,000 within five years. Ocala and Lakeland, Florida, were the top two cities in the Sunshine State on the published list of 15 top performing markets for the next five years.

“This study by a well-regarded economic research firm reinforces our belief that right now is one of the best times ever to purchase a home at SummerGlen,” said Tom Eleazer, SummerGlen’s vice president for marketing and sales. “Our current prices from our suppliers are allowing us to keep our home prices at great values. Once demand for homes in the market starts to increases, these prices will almost certainly increase.”

SummerGlen has just been named one of the The Short List of the 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in America by Where To Retire magazine. This is a great honor for our community, particularly since this is the fourth consecutive time that Where To Retire has honored SummerGlen as one of the best retirement communities in America. (The magazine publishes its rankings every two years, and SummerGlen was listed previously in 2005, 2007 and 2009).

What does it mean to be on Where To Retire’s “Short List” of Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.? Ocala, Florida Named One Of Top Cities In Country For Medical Care

Ocala, FL has been listed as one of eight havens in the U.S. with top medical care by “Where To Retire” magazine. In its story in the January/February 2011 edition, which just arrived today, “Where To Retire” said Ocala was a retirement haven for staying healthy, and offered award-winning facilities for medical care, …including the Munroe Regional Medical Center and Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Ocala was the only city in Florida to make the top eight list. Other cities included Nashville, TN, Phoenix, AZ, and Houston, TX. The site ranks the top 30 communities in the country, according to their price range. SummerGlen received excellent rankings for residential options, visual appeal and social networking.

SummerGlen Model Center Opening To Support Veterans Honor Flights

SummerGlen is formally opening its beautiful new model home this weekend–October 23 and 24–and is working with area veterans to support the Ocala Honor Flight Program. This program is planning to send 110 Ocala area World War II veterans to Washington,DC on October 28 to be honored at the National World War II Memorial.

The SummerGlen Veterans Club is helping to sponsor the weekend Open House and will be on-hand to accept donations for the Honor Flight program. Anyone making a donation will receive a beautiful gold metal and lacquered “Support Our Troops” ribbon that they can wear to show their support for our veterans.

Those visiting SummerGlen for the weekend Open House will be treated to six brand new fully furnished models, featuring exciting new floorplans that exemplify the SummerGlen retirement lifestyle. Models include on the tour include the Daytona II, Monteverde II, St. Augustine II, Crestview, Sanibel II and Bal Harbor. Models have been professionally decorated and accessorized to show visitors how SummerGlen homes can be adapted to a variety of different tastes and lifestyles.
